More information
Optics and Photonics are themes that are very strongly pursued at
ETH and in the Zurich area. The optics-related activities at the ETH
are very diverse, encompassing quantum optics, quantum information
processing, laser spectroscopy, communication photonics, opto-electronics,
optical sensing, optical microscopy, nano-optics, electromagnetic numerical
simulations, materials, and biophotonics. With optETH we have created an
overarching Network of Optical Sciences and Technologies at the ETH.
This network serves to support and enhance optics-related teaching and research,
crossing the departmental and geographic barriers. More than 20 groups spread
over 6 departments are currently involved in optETH.
The Micro and Nano Science Platform (MNSP)
is a network of researchers within ETH Zurich with the goal to promote
research and education as well as technology development and transfer in the
field of micro and nano sciences.
The swiss electromagnetics research and engineering centre (serec) is a new interdisciplinary
competence centre established by the ETH Zurich.
It is our attempt to consolidate research and development in the general area of
electromagnetics across different domains (academia, government and industry) in Switzerland. serec will foster and link the various
research activities in this field, bridge the gap between the academic and industrial worlds, and contribute to teaching and learning
on topics related to electromagnetics. serec will function as a catalyst for new research initiatives on the national, European and
international level, actively pursuing industrial and government support.
We have ongoing collaborations with numerous swiss and international universities, research institutes, and companies.
